What is your "Justice"??

Deathnote... A story about a prodigy, a highly intelligent student who can be considered as the top student of Japan, that stumbled upon a certain notebook. A notebook with the power to kill anyone who is written in it(with a few catch tho). One of the most well known manga and anime. Its different from mainstream anime like Naruto, Bleach, Eyeshield 21, One Piece and etc etc. Instead of having a cool protagonist who fights against bad guys,
it focuses on battles from what you can consider as "evil's" point of view. Its not a battle of punches or super powers, battles are done psychological and mental. The protagonist, Yagami Light aka "KIRA", is a child prodigy who stumbled upon a DeathNote, a notebook with powers that can kill. He uses the notebook to kill criminals who he consider as "trash" that made the world rotten.

The person who leads the battle against Light is "L", a world renowned detective who solved "un-solvable" cases around the world. No one knows his real name, face, and whereabouts. He leads a team of dedicated detectives to try and find out the real identity of "KIRA".

Not knowing each other's true identity, KIRA and L fights against each other, outwitting one another in a fight to find out the identity of their rival and capture them.

It is really an interesting concept. The story shows 2 sides. The side of a man, wanting to "clean" the world of criminals. He planned to instill "fear" into criminals to stop them from making crimes. Another side of man, wanting to uphold the "Law" and follow the Law.

During one of my tours around the local mall around where I live, I stumbled upon this nice manga. The very first volume of Deathnote. Although priced at around Php 500, I was tempted to buy it. Its one of my most favorite manga/anime of all time and truth be told made a great impact on how I view life. Watching the anime, it made me realize how humans behave. For example, people on the surface act all righteous and everything, but in the internet where they are considered anonymous, they can say what they truly feel.

Its a really good story with a few laughs in between. It can also be a breather of your regular battle mangas and all the while hits some points in life where you can ask yourself "What is my "Justice"?"
